The GoSmooth IPL device works most effective on naturally
brown, dark brown and dark blonde hair. However it works less effective on
light blonde, red, grey and white hair. We advise to use a higher flash
intensity for these hair types. The device is also not suitable for skin tone VI (Fitzpatrick scale) like
very dark brown to black skin tones.

With just 4-5 times self-treatment sessions, you will experience visually diminished hair. After using IPL for 3-6 months, your hair is prevented from growing back. Thus achieving a long-lasting and efficient hair-removal experience.
You can use IPL on the lip area, chin, sideburns, armpits, arms, legs, tummy, bikini and also around private parts. In fact, you can use it on your whole body except the sensitive areas. Sensitive areas like eyes, on genitals, nipples and lips must be avoided.
Who can use it? Avoid using the IPL-device recently tanned skin. This beauty tool is ideal for use with lighter skin tones and brown-to-black hair. However it’s less effective to use it on white, grey, red and blond hair. Also you cannot use the device on very dark (type VI) skin tone.
Make sure to keep the power cord plugged in at all time when using the device. Do not pull the plug out when using the device. The IPL device doesn’t have to be charged in advance. Just plug in the power cord and after letting it run for approximately 1 minute you can start using it.
We also recommend to first try the device on intensity level 1, from there turn up the intensity after each treatment for better results.
Down below are the phases that you will go through in your journey to permanent hair removal. So how often should you use the device? You should use the IPL device once every week. Do not exceed the limit of how often you can use the IPL device.
Please read the pases down below to have an impression of how your undesired hair will disappear:
Phases permanent hair removal
Phase 1 (week 1-2): This is the starting phase; your skin will get used
to Intense Pulsed Light
Phase 2 (week 3-4): In this phase hair growth will be reduced, you will
notice that the skin becomes smoother and hair growth is reduced. You can now
use the recommended light intensity for your skin type.
Phase 3 (week 5-6): In this phase your hair follicle is damaged, you
will notice that hair growth does not occur, and you enjoy an even smoother
skin. You will have to shave some spots here and there for a smooth and radiant
skin.
Phase 4 (week 7-10): The hair follicle is dying in this phase. You will
notice that your skin starts to become really smooth and that hair growth
starts to disappear.
Phase 5 (week 10-13): The hair follicle has died. In this phase you have
achieved the most optimal effect after consistent (once a week) use. If you
have used the IPL device until this period, you will notice that the hair does
not grow again.
Phase 6 (week 13-16): This is the completion phase. Your hair growth
completely disappears. And your skin stays vibrant and smooth.
Maintenance Phase (week 16-onwards): To maintain a smooth and radiant
skin, switch to the maintenance phase. In this phase you use the GoSmooth IPL
device only once every 3-4 weeks. This way you stay hair-free on the desired
areas of your body.
Please also read our full manual before using the IPL device. A lot of possible risks including IPL treatments will be excluded by reading the manual.
The device emits an Intense Pulse Light into the pores which will be absorbed by the hair follicles. This absorbed light will as a result be transferred into heat and destroy the hair follicle. This way hair growth will be prevented on the skin areas you have treated with IPL.
What age you should be before using IPL? The accepted minimum age to begin laser hair removal can be as young as 14 years old. However most experts recommend waiting until the teenager is through puberty and, if female, has begun her menstrual cycle. Females should be hormonally stable and should not have medical conditions such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).
IPL is not safe for pregnant females. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is simply visible light (like sunlight) but given at a high energy. There is no carcinogenic radiation, no ultraviolet light, and no cancer potential or potential harm to internal organs / baby. The light does not penetrate farther than the skin. We still strongly advise to not use the device if you are pregnant. This is due to no long-term research done on effects of IPL on pregnant women.
